Annual Report of Parish Activities and Stewardship of its Resources

Church of St. William the Abbot

September 1, 2010August 31, 2011

Dear Parishioners:

Over the past year, our parish has continued to develop its liturgical, spiritual, educational, charitable, and communal life in positive ways.

In the area of liturgy and the sacraments a major focus has been our preparations to welcome the new translation of the Roman Missal into our weekday and Sunday Masses. The number of baptisms celebrated last year increased by 30 babies and the number of weddings by 11 couples. Unfortunately, funerals also increased by 26 deaths.

The school populations in our parish school and in the Religious Education program have dropped slightly, perhaps dues to demographic changes in general. Once again, the summer Bible School was very successful.

The social events offered by the parish, such as the summer Block Party, the Twilight Cabaret in the winter, and the annual Family Festival in the summer were all well attended. This past year the parish sponsored a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, which was a great experience for all who went.

Our CYO program enjoyed another successful year and provided hundreds of children with worthwhile athletic activities, supplemented by the popular summer Sports Camp. Our junior and senior youth groups enjoyed a good year of activities, including their annual retreat at Camp Alvernia. They also welcomed a new director, Mr. Brian Knipfing.

Over the summer the parish also welcomed two new members to the Pastoral Staff who replaced retiring members. Sr. JoAnn Bonauro, SC became the new Coordinator of the Confirmation Program and a Pastoral Associate, and Mrs. Rosemary Graziano became the new Director of Parish Social Ministry.

Since this time last year, there have been no major capital improvement projects as in the recent past. We completed the fiscal year with a small surplus of $23,467, but our regular collections increased over last year by only $4,585.

I hope that this brief survey gives you a general idea of the many aspects of parish life. I thank you for the many ways in which you helped to build up our parish, and I pray that God will continue to bless the work we do.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Bob Hayden
